Hi, I’m Tanya Diaz. As the sixth child in a family of eight children, of Mexican immigrant parents, I appreciate the variety of experiences that make us who we are. I’m proud to speak
Spanish and embrace my roles as a mom, sister, aunt, and marginalized community ally.
I enjoy working with adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and believe that culture plays an important role in how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and our life experiences. Rather than making assumptions, I take time to understand the values, traditions, strengths, and challenges that have shaped your story. I practice trauma-informed care, which means clients are encouraged to move at their own pace, are offered options as we move through difficult topics and feelings, and a felt sense of safety is prioritized. Together, we’ll explore your experiences through a culturally informed and strengths-based lens, honoring the unique identities and communities that have helped make you who you are.
I believe human connection and understanding are two of the best medicines for healing the emotional pain that comes after difficult and stressful life experiences. I practice experiential therapy, which focuses on helping people not just talk about their experiences but actually connect with and process the emotions underneath them. Instead of only analyzing problems intellectually, I help people slow down, notice what they’re feeling or experiencing in the moment, and better understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck. This can lead to deeper healing, greater self-awareness, and more lasting change. I would be honored to be a part of your journey to self-understanding and better self-care.
